Miley Cyrus Performs a Country Twist on Talking Heads’ ‘Psycho Killer’ at an Intimate Los Angeles Show

Miley Cyrus put a twist on a classic.

On Thursday night, the “Flowers” singer, 31, performed a country rendition of Talking Heads’ 1977 classic “Psycho Killer” during an intimate set at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

In fan-captured footage of the performance, Cyrus can be seen wearing a blank tank top and leather pants as she belts out her own take on some of the lyrics of the song.

“If you know this song, this is the regular part,” she told the audience before jumping into the original track’s chorus.

Cyrus’ performance of the song last night comes just a month after it was revealed that she would be featured on A24’s Stop Making Sense tribute album, тιтled Everyone’s Getting Involved, per Variety.

Paying homage to Talking Heads’ 1984 live album, the record will feature artists including Cyrus, Lorde, Paramore, Girl in Red, The National, Teezo Touchdown, Kevin Abstract and more.

The “Wrecking Ball” artist and David Byrne himself performed together at the start of 2023 during her annual New Year’s Eve special where they sang David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and Byrne’s “Everybody’s Coming to My House,” per Pitchfork.

Last Friday, Cyrus dropped her new single “Doctor (Work It Out)” with Pharrell Williams, who helped produce some of the music on her 2013 album Bangerz.

In the music video for her the collab, the actor/singer is seen against a super-simple backdrop and lets her lyrics, dance moves, wardrobe and big hair take center stage.

Ahead of the song’s release, Cyrus shared a snippet of “Doctor (Work It Out),” on Instagram.

“Doctor (Work It Out) OUT NOW @pharrell,” Cyrus’ caption read in the joint post with Williams, 50, who produced the track.

“Let me work it out/hey, ooh/Let me work it out/yeah/Let little mama work it out/oh, ooh, ooh/Wanna work it out/Mmm (wanna work it out),” she sang in the video while moving her shoulders and arms to the beat.

Cyrus also shared pH๏τos from the new video on her Instagram Story leading up to the single’s release.

She then reposted a snippet she had shared earlier that week of her tapping her legs at the beginning of the video and singing, “I could be your doctor/Well, I could be your doctor/And I could be your nurse/I think I see the problem/It’s only gon’ get worse/The medicine she gave you, well, that will never work/I need to rock you baby before your body bursts/Let me work it out.”
